The film focuses on the online marketplace Silk Road, which operated on the anonymous TOR network and used only the digital currency bitcoin. The face of the Silk Road is its young libertarian creator, Ross Ulbricht, who was given a double life sentence, without parole, for his involvement in Silk Road. Deep Web examines his story and how the brightest minds and thought leaders behind the Deep Web and Bitcoin are now caught in the crosshairs of the battle for control of a future inextricably linked to technology, with our digital rights hanging in the balance.
