Dr. Daniele Struppa has a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Maryland (1981) and joined Chapman University as Provost in July 2006. He assumed the position of Chancellor in July 2007. Prior to coming to Chapman University, Dr. Struppa had a distinguished career as a professor of mathematics, and occupied positions at University of Milano (Italy), Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa (Italy), University of Calabria (Italy) and at George Mason University. He is the author of more than 200 refereed publications, including seven books, and he is the editor of several volumes. On March 24, 2014, the Board of Trustees of Chapman University named him “Presidential Designate,” thus selecting him as the person to succeed President James Doti at his retirement. On September 1, 2016, Dr. Struppa will become Chapman’s 13th President. While at George Mason, Dr. Struppa served as director of the Center for the Applications of Mathematics, as chair of the Department of Mathematical Sciences, and as associate dean for graduate studies. In 1997 he was selected dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at George Mason University, a position he held until he joined Chapman University.
