Heavyweight Champion
George Foreman, a two-time world heavyweightchampion, is an ordained minister, author, and
entrepreneur. An impoverished,troublemaking youth growing up in Texas,
Foreman was saved by the Job Corps, wherehe decided to become a boxer. Afterwinning a gold medal at the 1968 Olympics,he turned professional and had a perfect
37-0 record when he became the worldheavyweight champion by defeating Joe
Frazier in 1973. His most famous defense of histitle was “The Rumble in the Jungle” with
Muhammad Ali, who knocked out Foreman in the eighth round. In1977, Foreman gave up boxing and became a born-again Christian. Hewas ordained a minister in 1978 and began preaching in his hometownof Houston, Texas. In 1984, he founded the George Foreman Youthand Community Center. To keep the Center open, in 1987, he returnedto the ring, and in 1994, at the age of 45, he knocked out MichaelMoorer to become the oldest  ghter ever to win the heavyweightcrown. Since the early 1990s, Foreman had discovered his talent forsalesmanship, and has made millions o  marketing the GeorgeForeman Lean Mean Grilling Machine (over 100 million units sold).
He also successfully promoted the Meineke Car Care Centers. He haslaunched a line of environmentally safe cleaning and personal careproducts, a prescription shoe for diabetics to prevent amputations,
a restaurant franchise called UFood Grille, and authored 10 books,including “Knockout Entrepreneur.” Foreman tends to his ministryand preaches four times a week, and loves spending time with hisfamily on his ranch in Marshall, Texas.
