Richard Fink

NorthStar Guidance

Rich Fink is president of a new consulting firm, NorthStar Guidance, whose focus is to collaborate with partners to advance a free society. Rich serves as vice chairman of the board of directors of the Charles Koch Foundation and the Charles Koch Institute, board member of  Stand Together, and he is a director of the Fred C. and Mary R. Koch Foundation. He also started a new 501(c)3 FreedomStart to stimulate themes of freedom in the Arts. Additionally, he serves on the board of directors for the Mercatus Center at George Mason University and Institute for Humane Studies. He cofounded the Mercatus center with Charles Koch, and cofounded and served on the Board of Directors for Americans for Prosperity and the Americans for Prosperity Foundation with Charles and David Koch. After 25 years with Koch Industries Rich, retired in December 2015 from his position of executive vice president of Koch Industries Public Sector.  Prior to joining Koch Industries, Rich was an economics professor and executive vice president of advancement and planning at George Mason University.  He has also served on the boards of Georgia-Pacific, INVISTA, Flight Hills Resources, George Mason University Board of Visitors, the Bill of Rights Institute, American Prosecutors Research Institute, Tax Foundation, Reason Foundation, Progressive Policy Institute, the Public Choice Center, Governor of Virginia’s New Partnership Commission, The Consumer Advisory Council of the Federal Reserve Board, and President Reagan’s Commission on Privatization.  Rich earned his Ph.D. from New York University and M.A. from UCLA. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude with a bachelor’s in economics from Rutgers University.
